Dance from the Quill: Reimagining Alexander Pope's The Rape of the
Lock (VHS,DVD,DVD-ROM)
Currently designed to run on Mac OS 9
The BETHA (Battelle Endowment for Technology
and Human Affairs) sponsored project, Dance from the Quill:
Reimagining Alexander Pope's The Rape of the Lock, will be
a two CD-ROM set, created under the direction of technology
director, Tim Glenn, with collaborators Karen Eliot and Nena
Couch. The CDs document and contextualize the creation and
performance of a ballet based on Alexander Pope's 1717 poem,
The Rape of the Lock.
The Rape of the Lock was made possible by a 1996 College
of the Arts Seed Grant award. It resulted in a ballet in the
Baroque style performed in Sullivant Theatre by 27 dancers
and actors, accompanied by a live chamber ensemble performing
music of the period. The three CD-ROM set may be of interest
to educators, scholars and students across disciplinary boundaries.
