how to use labanreader 1.0

what you will need:

LabanReader works best with scores that have been created in LabanWriter 4.0 or higher. Scores in previous versions of LabanWriter may be opened through and saved as a 4.0 document, but a few symbols from previous versions of LabanWriter will not change color in LabanReader.

to open a score in LabanReader:

To create or use a previously created LabanReader file, open it through the LabanReader software program:

  • double click on the LR icon;
  • close the blank screen and choose Open from the pull down File menu;
  • within the dialog box, scroll to your LabanWriter 4.0 score and open it.

to create a LabanReader document:

  • To begin, select a group of symbols (hold the mouse button and drag over the symbols, or hold down the shift key as you click on symbols).
  • Pull down the Group menu (not the group numbers) at the very top of your screen and release on the number of the group you are working on.
  • Within the group menu:
    • Name the group (or leave it as a number)
    • Select the colors and order you want the group to cycle through
    • Click OK to return to the score. You can return to the group menu at any time to make changes.
  • If you have named a group, the name will appear at the top of the screen instead of Group 1, Group 2, etc. when you return to the score. Click on the name or number to cycle through the colors you have chosen and to check that all the symbols are included.
  • To add a symbol or symbols to a group, select them in your score, pull down the Add To menu, and release on the name or number of the group.
  • To delete a symbol or symbols from a group, select them in your score, pull down the Edit menu and release on Delete From Group.
  • Under Preferences in the Edit menu, you can preselect an order of colors if you want consistent color cycles for your groups.
