Free Public event
From the Great Wall in China to the Barnett Theatre in Sullivant Hall, OSU Dance invites you to join us on Monday April 27th at 6:15 pm to catch a glimpse of down home Ohio culture courtesy of OSU Buckeye Roots Strings and Steps.
OSU Dance PhD Student, Janet Schroeder served as Artistic Director of this group of OSU-affiliated musicians and dancers who toured China (Beijing, Wuhan, Suzhou, and Shanghai) over spring break. Schroeder created a 45-minute performance of Americana Music and Dance, which was performed seven times over nine days. Along with fellow clogger and OSU Communications Staffer Adam King, they kicked up their heels to the toe tapping sounds of the trio of Joshua Coy (banjo), Carrie Miller (fiddle), and Liberty Brigner (guitar.)
This tour was part of an ongoing cultural exchange program, courtesy of grants from the State Department. Bob Eckhart, executive director of the combined ESL programs, Department of Teaching and Learning, and director of the WHU-OSU Center for American Culture, initiates a unique artistic program and directs a group of students and staff to travel to China and back on a regular basis.
This is the only state side performance of the talented students and staff that traveled to China this Spring Break. Don’t miss this concert!
