DANCE 7404: Postmodernism in Dance II

Postmodernism in Dance II - Inquiry into aesthetic points of view, beliefs and assumptions inherent in dance practices and dance criticism from the mid-1980s to the present. Prereq: Grad standing or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 759, 801.31. VSP Admis Cond course.

This course highlights choreographers and choreographic developments in concert dance from the turn of the twentieth century through the 1960s, while examining how dance encompasses cultural and historical ideas. Class discussions and written assignments will ask students to analyze choreography in relation to the social, and political climate of the time period.
