Cross-disciplinary seminar in critical theory considering the body as flesh and bone and as a discursive entity. Prereq: Grad standing or permission of instructor. Not open to students with credit for 860. VSP Admis Cond course.

This course looks through a dual lens of the body as flesh and bone, in addition to being a construct with changing meaning. Students will use close readings, writings and art practices to think critically about the received notions of the body throughout the foundational 20th century and the contemporary 21st century.
