This graduate seminar will analyze how the body is viewed, constrained, and invested as a political statement both on stage and in everyday life. Students will draw from various fields of study to interrogate how the body is used to negotiate identity, display themselves, protest social inequalities, experience pain and as a resource of visual consumption. A choreographic lens will help students analysis the dangers of having one’s body on the line.
