Add to Calendar 2016-02-23 17:30:00 2016-02-23 18:30:00 Bridget Moore Guest Artist in February OSU Alum Bridget L Moore returns to Ohio State to teach a masterclass and share her career path and creative research.  Bridget Moore is currently a visiting artist at Sungkyunkwan University, one of the leading universities in South Korea.  Her creative Research presentation will take place in Studio 247 at 5:30 - 6:30 pm.  Free and Open to all.ABOUT THE ARTIST:Bridget was most recently featured in Heart and Soul Magazine. Moore has obtained two creative arts degrees in dance from prestigious universities with innovative dance programs — a BFA from The Ohio State University and an MFA from New York University, Tisch School of the Arts. In 2012, Moore received a Choreography Fellowship award from the Princess Grace Foundation, which included a commission to create a new work. She was nominated for this coveted award by Ann Williams, founder of Dallas Black Dance Theatre. Moore also received a 2012 Surdna Arts Teacher Fellowship, and was featured in the July 2012 Teacher’s Tools section of Dance Teacher Magazine.Moore’s choreographic work provides both cultural and kinesthetic experiences rooted in an African-American and contemporary dance aesthetic. Her use of gestures, images, and musicality provide a quality of expression which she characterizes as lines of energy spinning and turning in and out of the floor. Her choreography is kinesthetically and technically challenging and, at times, period-specific — integrating historical and cultural perspectives through research.Moore was the first recipient of Project Next Generation, a commission offered to an emerging female choreographer by Urban Bush Women Dance Company. She was also commissioned by the Maggie Allesee National Center for Choreography to work in a creative residency with the critically-acclaimed Philadanco Dance Company. Moore co-directed This Woman’s Work with colleague Princess Mhoon Coooper, and was noted in Dance Magazine‘s “25 to Watch” in the field. Her work has been presented at New York City Center’s Fall for Dance Festival, the Jacob’s Pillow Inside/Out Series, Bates Dance Festival, The Joyce Theater, Joyce Soho, Aaron Davis Hall, Ailey Citigroup Theater, Symphony Space, Dee and Charles Wyly Theatre, and Winspear Opera House, among others.Free and open to all.  Contact Dori Jenks (jenks.3@osu.edu) for more information.
