Professor David Covey teaches lighting design, aspects of production and facilitates concert workshops and the senior seminar. He served as the lighting director for the Cunningham Foundation from 1997-1999, receiving a 1998 BESSIE award for his lighting for BAM Events, choreographed by Merce Cunningham. He spent 8 years as Production Manager for the Bates Dance Festival and 20 years as the resident designer for the Jazz Tap Ensemble, most recently completing a month long tour of the DRC, Mozambique and Zimbabwe in 2013. He is very committed to community outreach, facilitating dance programs with developmentally disabled adults and Parkinson’s patients.
