Education

Katie is an independent artist and instructor who graduated from the University of Alaska, Anchorage with a degree in technical theatre and dance. She became artistic director of dance company Sunlight Collaboration, which quickly became a multi-media company that works closely with other artistic mediums. In 2018, she received the Individual Artist Award from the Rasmuson Foundation of Alaska and spent time in Havana, Cuba training with Mi compania under the direction of Susana Pous. Since graduating, she has stayed closely connected with UAA through working as adjunct faculty and choreographing for semesterly productions, one of which she directed. She has now relocated to Columbus, Ohio and is pursuing an MFA in Dance at The Ohio State University, where she is beginning to work in dance film, intermedia and collaborative creative work. Alongside studying, she is a joint hire for the Dance Department and the Advanced Center for Computing and Design Department and is teaching and assisting undergraduate courses at OSU.
