Education

  • B.F.A in Dance Performance at the University of Central Oklahoma

Yukina Sato is an MFA candidate in 2023 in the Department of Dance at The Ohio State University. Her research focuses on cultural identity through embodied memories and dialogues. She had formal training in Russian-style ballet, modern dance, jazz dance, aerial arts, and hip-hop. She led the contemporary competition team at St. Margaret's middle and high school and won 1st prize at the National dance competition in 2015. She received a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Central Oklahoma in 2020. She was a former member of the Kaleidoscope Dance Company and worked with various performing artists such as 10 Hairy Legs/ Larry Keigwin/ Lea Cox/ Noa Shiloh/ James Gregg /and Diavolo -architecture in motion- and many more.  Currently, she is serving as the Graduate Teaching Associate to have teaching Ballet, Jazz, and Bartenieff fundamentals, as well as a Research Assistant for Archiving Black Performance course to preserve embodied history such as Pearl Primus, Bebe Miller, Carolyn Adams (former Paul Taylor Dance Company dancer)
