Dante Puleio speaks about his work as an artist and as Artistic Director of the José Limón Dance Company founded in 1946 by Limón.  Limón was born in Culiacán, Mexico in 1908 and immigrated to California in 1915 during the Mexican Revolution. Puleio is in residence to coach the staging from Labanotation scores of Limón’s 1958 work Missa Brevis performed to Hungarian musician Zoltán Kodály’s composition. In addition to his own artistic practice, Puleio will discuss how Missa Brevis addresses aspects of war, immigration, and the building of community.
