Description of MFA project:
My MFA project is titled- Libraries as Making Spaces: Activating Dance in Columbus Metropolitan Libraries (CML). I have collaborated with CML Whetstone, Northside, Whitehall, and the Main Library Branch. I facilitate free dance programming in auditorium spaces, teen zones, and digital media spaces, looking at libraries as creative studios. These dance programs have included: Creative Dance for ages 60 and up, Teen Dance & Graphic Novels, Dance and Digital Media, Teen Dance Making, Youth Creative Dance, and Pop-Up Dance classes-Intergenerational Movement. This project is an ongoing experience, CML summer dance sessions coming soon! Library as Making Spaces: Activating Dance in CML, focuses on access, wellness, and agency as a creative process and practice.
