Wexner artist Aakash Odedra will lead a master class on Friday, October 24 from 10:20-12pm in Sullivant 390. Open to Department of Dance students; sign-up sheets available in the Green Room.

Class description: For advanced students in dance, Aakash offers challenging material (both contemporary and informed by Indian classical Kathak dance) and task based exercises while relating inspiring personal stories of his own journey through dance. Kathak is a north Indian classical dance form. Rich in history, this centuries old form comes from the word’ Katha’ which means story. Kathak technique is characterised by graceful hand movements, virtuosic turns and precise footwork. Kathak must be danced barefoot. Contemporary dance workshops are aimed at students with experience of dance. Aakash engages in choreographic style workshops introducing students to his unique movement vocabulary. Please note: this masterclass is very physically demanding and so attendees should be experienced in dance.
