an MFA thesis in Dance by Jacquie Sochacki Pittman
These experiential, multimedia performances are the culmination of my thesis research which explores the bodily manifestation of mental illness, specifically panic disorder, anxiety, and depression, through choreography and performance. Dancers explore the landscapes of controllable and uncontrollable physical, mental, and emotional variables through movement as the audience experiences various physical spaces themselves throughout the performance. This performance begins in the Motion Lab and travels to Studio 390, allowing the audience to have a journey of their own throughout the experience.
