Join University Libraries for a free online screening of video excerpts from Anna Sokolow's iconic modern dance work "Rooms," choreographed in 1955. The program includes a screening and Q and A with Lorry May, Artistic Director of the Anna Sokolow Foundation, and the Ohio State dancers. "Rooms" was staged from the Labanotation score in 2019-2021 by Dr. Valarie Williams, Professor at The Ohio State Department of Dance and Mara Frazier, Assistant Professor and Curator of Dance at the Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee Theatre Research Institute. May coached the student cast in person in 2019 and via Zoom in 2021, passing on her deep knowledge of the work from dancing with Anna Sokolow over four decades. This event presents the work's sections "Alone," "Desire," "Daydream," "Panic," and "The End" and will allow time for discussion with the panelists.
