The Anti-Racist Working Group (ARWG) is a sub-group of Dancers in Graduate School (DiGS), an Ohio State student organization. ARWG invites all members of the Ohio State Dance community--students, alumni, faculty, and staff--to participate in a Racism 101 Workshop. Facilitated by graduate students Alex Christmas and Lyndsey Vader, and alumna Kathryn Logan, this 2-hour interactive presentation aims to: (1) engage participants in conversations surrounding race; (2) establish a common understanding of social justice language; (3) evaluate the role race plays within our department; and (4) determine one’s own positionality and fears surrounding addressing race and racism within the department.
This event will take place on Thursday, June 11th from 11am-1pm via Zoom.
In preparation for our time together, we ask that you fill out the following documents entitled "IdentityWheel1" and "IdentityWheel2". These will help prepare you for some of the conversations that will take place during the workshop.
If you cannot join the meeting, but you are interested in exploring anti-racist resources, the student-led ARWG has a Google Drive containing a wealth of information that is now available through the DiGS website.
After registering for the workshop, you will receive an email invitation to join the Zoom meeting. Please feel free to contact Kathryn Logan.413@osu.edu with any questions prior to the workshop.
We thank you for your dedication to this work.
