DNB Offering Five Free Online Introductory Motif Notation Classes

Five free online introductory Motif Notation classes

The Dance Notation Bureau is offering five online introductory Motif Notation classes suitable for individuals with no or some knowledge of Motif Notation. The instruction is free of charge, but donations are very welcome.

Motif Notation is derived from Labanotation and is used to observe, discuss, analyze, create, or preserve any type of movement.   It highlights core elements and leitmotifs, depicting the overall structure of a dance.   In the classes we will explore basic Motif Notation concepts through movement improvisation, symbol recognition, theory understanding, and creating dances based on scores, and movement observation.

The class will be taught by Mei-Chen Lu. Limited to 25 people. Please be committed to attend all five classes and to turn on your camera for participation.

The classes will be held via ZOOM from 9:30AM-11:30AM (U.S. Eastern time), Monday through Friday, from 7/6 to 7/10, 2020.

To register for the classes, please email Mei-Chen Lu at library@dancenotation.org.
