Jon Woods Family Condolences
The Department of Dance expresses condolences to the family of Jon Woods, professor emeritus in the School of Music and long-time director of The Ohio State University Marching Band.
The revered conductor worked with Susan Hadley, professor and current chair, on Across the Field, a dance for 57 performers from OSU Dance, BalletMet and the OSU Marching Band.
Hadley states, “collaborating with Dr. Woods to produce Across the Field was a highlight of my choreographic career.” Dr. Woods conducted the band during performances, giving dancers the rich experience of performing to the live music of TBDBITL (the Best Damn Band in the Land.)
The Catherine Elizabeth Woods Dance Scholarship Fund was established in 2006 to honor the memory of a young dancer and performer, Jon Woods’ daughter Catherine.
