Dear Friends and Colleagues,

It is with profound pride and immense joy that I reflect on the extraordinary accomplishments of The Ohio State University Department of Dance over the past year. Embodying our new motto, "Come as you are; leave as who you want to be," we have embraced our mission with open hearts and unwavering dedication, resulting in transformative growth and unprecedented success.

I am honored to share that during my two-year tenure, we have witnessed remarkable progress. Our commitment to excellence is evident in the significant increase in both graduate and undergraduate admissions, which have surged by 40% and 110% respectively. This remarkable growth is a testament to our department's magnetic appeal and our ability to attract the brightest and most passionate dancers from around the globe.

Our faculty recruitment efforts have been equally impressive, bringing esteemed scholars and practitioners into our community. These new faculty members have enriched our academic and artistic environment, facilitating substantial research and community engagement opportunities that benefit both faculty and students. Their contributions have not only enhanced our educational offerings but have also strengthened our ties to the broader community, fostering a culture of collaboration and mutual support.

One of our most outstanding achievements this year is the department's success in securing two out of seven prestigious Guggenheim Fellowships in Choreography. This remarkable feat underscores the exceptional talent and dedication that define our department. It is a shining example of how our faculty and students continually push the boundaries of creativity and innovation, solidifying our reputation as a leader in dance education and practice.

Our innovative curricular and co-curricular programming has also placed us in the national spotlight. These programs, designed to challenge and inspire, are a direct reflection of our commitment to providing a holistic and forward-thinking dance education. They prepare our students to become versatile, thoughtful and impactful artists, ready to make their mark on the world.

However, none of these achievements would be possible without the unwavering dedication of our entire department. Our administrative and production teams work tirelessly behind the scenes, ensuring that every performance, every class and every event runs smoothly and successfully. Their hard work and commitment are the backbone of our department, allowing us to shine on stage and in the studio.

I am equally grateful for the contributions of our faculty and students, both past and present. Their passion, creativity and relentless pursuit of excellence inspire me daily and drive our collective success. It is through their efforts that we have built a community that is not only supportive and nurturing but also bold and visionary.

As we look to the future, I am filled with hope and excitement. We will continue to uphold our motto, welcoming new students with open arms and guiding them on their journey to becoming the artists they aspire to be. Together, we will reach new heights, forge new paths, and leave an indelible mark on the world of dance.
