Ms. Emory-Maier is a former Assistant Professor of Dance at Kent State University. She completed her MFA in Choreography and Performance at The Ohio State University and an MA in Dance Reconstruction and Directing from CUNY. She uses Labanotation and other resources to re-stage dances and examine questions around sociability, protest, memory, and relationships. She currently consults with The George Balanchine Foundation. With a dedication to well-being, Ambre brings her acknowledged kinship and expertise in yoga, meditation, eating disorders, and mental health care to her practices. She is a régisseur for Michael Uthoff’s choreographic works. Deeply invested in community engagement, she collaborates with The Wick Poetry Center and is currently involved in the development of a performance work for the book, The Nature of Our Times. She has presented internationally and nationally at conferences including the Early Oxford Dance Symposium, NDEO, 19th Century Women's Critical Health at the Sorbonne, ICKL, and Dance Studies Association and has contributed to https://www.digitens.org. Her most recent book chapter co-authored with Professor Valarie Williams in Dance and Sociability in the Long Eighteenth Century was published February 2026. She serves as a Fulbright Specialist.
