Xueting Zhu is a dancer, researcher, and second-year PhD student in the Department of Dance. Her current research interests center on competition, performance, choreography, and cross-cultural/intercultural exchange of DanceSport (competitive ballroom dance) within the Chinese context. As a dancer, she received training from world-class coaches and competitors including the winners and finalists of the Blackpool Dance Festival, the World DanceSport Federation (WDSF) World Championship, and the 2010 Asian Games, etc. She has obtained good results in DanceSport competitions in China, and her performances appeared on the stages of China Central Television (CCTV), Shanghai International Dance Center, Shanghai Spring International Music Festival, etc. Her publications have appeared in Dance (舞蹈), Shanghai Art Review (上海艺术评论), Playwright (剧作家), and other Chinese journals. Certified as a teacher and adjudicator by the Chinese DanceSport Federation (CDSF), Xueting is also an active committee member of the China University DanceSport Association (CUDSA). She has taught DanceSport at Fudan University and Shanghai Normal University. She was a visiting scholar at the University of California, Irvine, and holds a BFA in Choreography and an MFA in Dance with a concentration in DanceSport from Shanghai University of Sport in China. Currently, she is collaborating with colleagues in Shanghai on a project on “The Dual Evolution of Competitive and Artistic within DanceSport in China”(中国体育舞蹈竞技性与艺术性双向发展研究), sponsored by the Shanghai Education Development Foundation and the Shanghai Municipal Education Commission.
