When the Extension was formed in 1968, the DNB's library was brought to OSU's Special Collections. Since this time, many materials have been added, especially books on various systems of notation and books and scores of Hungarian and other Eastern European traditional dances.
The Dance Notation Bureau Collection is the largest collection of scores and notation related books in a university library in the nation. Contents of this collection include DNB publications and articles, notation related books, scores, photographs, and Hungarian language/dance notation publications. These materials are currently housed in the library's Theatre Research Institute (TRI). The TRI also holds many collections (including a Mime, Dance, and Movement Collection), partners with instructors of OSU courses, and hosts a visiting research fellowship that may include DNB Collection materials.
